45 Years in the Making
Expertise You Can’t Download. Security You Can Trust.
In the modern world of automotive security, there’s a growing problem: cars have become computers on wheels. While technology has made driving more convenient, it has also handed thieves a new set of tools. Today, a high-tech thief can clone your key or hack your car’s CANbus system in seconds without ever breaking a window.
At Immobilised, we believe the only way to stop a digital thief is with a physical solution.
The Man Behind the Circuit
My name is Rod Willard, and I’ve spent nearly five decades under the bonnets of almost every make and model on Australian roads. With two trade certificates and 45 years of hands-on automotive experience, I’ve seen the industry shift from simple mechanical locks to complex digital networks.
I started Immobilised because I saw a gap in the market. Most modern security systems are “plug-and-play”—they are installed in the same predictable locations and rely on the car’s own computer (the CANbus) to work. If a thief can hack the computer, they can bypass the security.
I knew there was a better way.

The Immobilised Difference
I designed and manufactured the Immobilised system to be different. It’s not just a gadget; it’s a master-crafted security solution that goes back to basics where it matters most:
- Non-CANbus Reliance: My system doesn’t “talk” to the car’s computer. It physically cuts power to a vital component. You can’t hack a circuit that isn’t there.
- Almost Impossible to Clone: Our remotes require physical access to the main unit for programming. A thief can’t “sniff” your signal from the driveway and clone your remote. If they don’t have physical access, they don’t have a chance.
- Truly Custom Installs: Because our units are ultra-small and I personally handle the manufacturing and installation, no two installs are the same. We don’t follow a manual that thieves have already read.
- Australian Made & Owned: Based in Perth Western Australia, designed for Australian conditions, and built for the vehicles our community loves most -from high-performance cars to the workhorses of our trades.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What makes Immobilised different from other aftermarket systems?
Most modern “digital” immobilisers communicate via your car’s CANbus (the vehicle’s internal computer network). While effective, they can sometimes be bypassed if a thief hacks the network directly. Immobilised does not use CANbus. It is a physical, hard-wired break in a vital circuit. You can’t “hack” a wire that isn’t connected.
2. Can your remote controls be “cloned” like a factory key fob?
No. Most car thefts today happen via Relay Attacks, where thieves “sniff” and amplify your key’s signal from outside your house. Our remotes are different. They must be physically programmed at the main unit inside the car. This “physical handshake” means a thief cannot clone your remote from the driveway; they would need to already be inside your car with the unit in their hands.
3. What exactly is a “non-CANbus” immobiliser?
Think of the CANbus as the car’s central nervous system. Modern thieves use gadgets to send “start” commands through that system. Our system bypasses the “nervous system” entirely. We install an ultra-small physical switch on a vital engine component. Unless our unit gets the signal from your specific remote, that component simply has no power, and the car stays dead.
4. Is the unit easy for a thief to find and bypass?
We’ve designed our units to be ultra-small, making them incredibly easy to hide in places a thief would never think to look. Because I have 45 years of automotive experience, I don’t follow a “standard” install manual. Every installation is truly custom and unique to your vehicle, leaving no predictable pattern for a thief to follow.
5. Will this void my new car warranty?
In Australia, the ACCC states that a manufacturer cannot void your entire warranty just because you’ve had an aftermarket part fitted. However, the installer (us) is responsible for the quality of that specific work. With two trade certificates and 45 years of experience, our wiring is professional grade and designed to integrate safely without interfering with your car’s factory systems.
6. What happens if I lose my remote?
Because our system is built for high security, you cannot simply buy a generic remote online and pair it. You will need to contact us. We can’t provide a replacement remote or guide you through the secure, physical re-pairing process. We will need to attend and program the remote.
7. Can this be installed on older vehicles as well as new ones?
Absolutely. In fact, because we don’t rely on complex computer networks, our system is perfect for everything from a 1970s classic to a brand-new 2025 Toyota HiLux. If it has a vital electrical component, we can immobilise it.
